In 1813, Jane Austen visited the British Institution and viewed some of the most famous portraits of her time. Thanks to Dr. Janine Barchas (UT Department of English) and her team at the Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services, we can take a virtual walk through the same gallery and see the art, just as Jane Austen would have.
The Shakespeare Gallery of 1796 is also available to view, another exhibit Jane would have been able to visit.
WhatJaneSaw.org is a free site available to everyone, so be sure to visit after watching the video.
